How do I restart my Apple TV?Updated 2 years ago

When you experience technical issues with your Apple TV, a system restart can help your device return to normal operation.  

Note: Turning your device off and on isn’t the same as a system restart. 

You can restart your Apple TV manually or in the app. 

To manually restart your Apple TV:

1. Go to your Apple TV device. 
2. Find the power adapter, then unplug it.
3. Wait 10 seconds. 
4. Plug the power adapter back into the device.

Now your Apple TV is restarted. 

To restart your Apple TV in the app:

1. Turn on your Apple TV.
2. Go to Settings in the Tile Screen. 
   
3. Select System, then Restart.
   

Now your Apple TV is restarted.
